Four nicely-sculpted children ring the stem of the basin above, but they tend not to get noticed because of the big angel on top.

The four figures below her signify Peace, Health, Purity, and Temperance. (from Ask Professor Ginko: The Fountains of New York)

The water in the pool below is green like that of the lake behind (2-jpg) -- we wonder what determines water color, having encountered many shades in the course of this series. Does the lake supply the fountain? They are at virtually the same level as one discovers when going to the terrace edge -- there are no steps between you and the lake.
