These pictures remind the Rube of his first high school physics experiment: a small wooden tray filled with water was disturbed by a block, which created calculable ripple interference patterns. It showed the Rube how unbearably DRY this course would prove to be.

But if you are not expected to do any calculations, these interference patterns are quite nice to look at.
